It’s deeper than the physical or verbal. It’s deeper than courtship + romance. It goes waay beyond pretty words and expansive gestures.
True intimacy is a mood. A vibe. A feeling.
It’s the freedom to strip away all barriers and pretence and just be who you are in a safe space. No judgements. No repercussions. Nothing but love for + acceptance of your person, your heart, your spirit.
It’s sacred. It’s vital. In its purest form, it’s heaven.
Who are the people with whom you’re wholly intimate? Who accept you for yourself and honour your sovereignty? Who respect your right to choose how you live and why you live that way?
Your answer reflects your reality.
Having a lover or a partner doesn’t necessarily mean you’re totally intimate with that person; it just means you’re not completely alone. But. But. You can still be alone even when you’re nestled in someone’s arms, yes? You can still be alone even while standing in a crowded room with your friends all around you.
You can still be alone no matter who’s next to you.
Unless. Unless you align yourself with the hearts echoing your rhythm. Unless you soar into orbit with the bright stars who’ll light up your galaxy. Unless you let go of connections that have lost their meaning and plug into fresh potency.
To be intimate with another is to know the person, really know the person, and accept whoever he/she is at the core. It’s to have a glimpse into their soul and say “I see you. I cherish you. I’m here for you.” It’s to go beyond how they look or where they are, what they do and where they come from, and just fall into step with them as they go through life.
To be intimate with another is to share something pure, something bigger and richer than you could have achieved on your own.
This is why we seek others out. This is why we connect. We’re searching for intimacy, acceptance, love. We’re searching for those who will take us as we are even as they encourage us to reach higher than we are. We’re searching for the click as we fit together with the pieces made just for us. To support us. To love us. To share our tears and triumphs and humanity. To share our hearts.
Blank pages. Safe spaces. Open hearts. They’re waiting to soak up your intimacy, your true intimacy. Won’t you dive in?
