My Take on Life

I think life is what you make of it. Yes, that’s quite the cliché, but bear with me whilst I indulge my youthful perspective. Hey it’s my prerogative, right? Yes indeed. So, here it is.

There’re hardships to bear, difficulties to overcome, challenges to stretch us and make us better at what we do. At the same time, though, life can be exquisite, beautiful, joyful, and full of countless possibilities and limitless pleasures.

I honestly think people get so caught up in negativity and trying to get ahead that they lose sight of the beauty of being alive and loved. So many times people’re willing to give only if they can get something in return, there doesn’t seem to be much genuine goodwill left. I think it’s important to be considerate, to care even if there’s no immediate reward or benefit, to reach out to your friends and just be there for them. I think everyone should hold on to their inner child and retain the innocence of that stage because it keeps one positive and young at heart.

I think the pace of life is too frenetic these days; all that bustling back and forth, hurrying to and fro, what’s it really about? You can only find harmony and balance if you slow your roll and take the time to be at peace within yourself. Find the time to sit back and reflect, to focus on being in tune with your spirit and in harmony with your soul.

LOL, deep or what? 😀 Motivational speaker in the making! Seriously though, life may not be a bed of roses, but it’s not a thicket of thorns either. So, resist the tendency to point out/dwell on all the things that could go wrong or bad; recognise and embrace the flip side instead.

I Have Learned…

-That life is what you make of it. Being happy or sad, content or dissatisfied, fulfilled or lacking….you control how and what you feel. External influences can only extinguish the fire and drive we carry within us if we let them.

-That ambition is important, but no one should lose their humanity while striving for the top.

-That love is not always permanent and it comes in many different forms, on various levels. The trick is to recognise each one for what it is, not what you think it should be.

-That money makes the world go round really, when you stop to think about it. There’re other things that matter, but hard cash (or its purchasing power) is the currency to possess.

-That holding on to disappointments and hurt is poisonous to the psyche. It’s a lot healthier to rant and let it out of your system; otherwise it just festers and makes you bitter.

-That time is too precious to waste on negativity. Relationships, jobs, atmospheres … if they leave you drained, fractious, unhappy, or get you down in any way, redirect your focus elsewhere.

-That nobody has the right to stomp on your dreams. Give as good as you get to anyone who tries.

-That you should know who you are, what you stand for, and what you believe in.

New Beginnings

Hey, people. Many thanks for all the feedback through your comments. I feel so loved and wanted, LOL! Who knows, maybe I’ll have a huge fan base soon. Now there’s a cheery thought. 😀

So, today it’s all about new beginnings. Every now and then, one stagnates, gets stuck in a rut, runs round and round in circles without getting anywhere or achieving anything. We’ve all been there at least once, no? But then something shakes up the monotony and brings in fresh air, breaks the stalemate and helps us get out of the dead zone. It could be a person, a message you read, a picture you see, or even some poignant music that resonates in your soul and opens your eyes to what your previously blinkered vision wouldn’t let you take in. Sometimes the best things in life happen when you least expect them, and the help you need arrives in such a way you’d never have guessed.

For me it’s been the exploration of my inner mindscape, gazing inwards and taking a good long look at what I see. It’s not always pretty, and let me tell you, it can be painful or scary or whatever sometimes, but it really does help. You can make peace with the past so it doesn’t hold you back anymore, stop worrying overmuch about the future, and just live in the moment. Be grounded in the present, here and now. What’s done is done and nothing can reverse it. Gonna let that keep you from maximising your potential and enjoying life to the fullest? I think not.

Embracing new beginnings can be tough. I mean, you’re taking risks and putting yourself out there, right? Anything can happen. Get it? Anything can happen. Make a new friend, reconnect with an old and dear one, give yourself a treat, take a leap of faith, and let yourself go. Do anything but shrink back from new and uncharted or unfamiliar territory. Yes you may get hurt, things might go awry, but what if they don’t? What if your life is suddenly infused with vibrant colours and sights and sounds that take your breath away? What if you experience more joy and love and contentment than you thought this world had to offer? Every day is a new beginning. Do what you can, when you can. Do anything but nothing. Take that next step. It’ll be worth it.

Be in tune with your mind, listen to your heart, and let your instincts guide you. Know who and what you are, be at peace with yourself, and avoid negative vibes/energy. Laugh and love and experience as much as possible. Most importantly, let the knowledge that there’s always help to be found when you need it overcome the fear that you might not be able to handle or make it. You can. You can do anything. Anything at all. Remember, “Just when the caterpillar didn’t know what would happen next, it turned into a butterfly.”
