Beauty Is Magic

What’s your perception of beauty? How do you define it?

Is it limited to thin young women with glowing skin; fancy sports cars; and an exquisitely dressed fashionista?

To ask a tired question, what’s hot and what’s not?

I asked my new friend Paula if she wanted me to discuss anything in particular on here, and she mentioned society’s definition of beauty. In her exact words, “I am very interested in the way we as a society perceive beauty especially feminine beauty. As an artist I see beauty in just about anything and feel we have lost the richness that life has to offer.”

My response? “Now that’s some poetic expression. I can totally relate to what you’re saying and also feel we need to expand our perception of feminine beauty. It has nothing to do with our body measurements and/or sense of fashion; it has to do with our hearts and our souls and all the MAGIC we have to share with the world.”

I said that because beauty based on appearance alone is fleeting and shallow. I don’t care how skinny you are or how many designer brands you rock on a daily basis; if your inner self is ugly, your outer beauty is hard and bitchy.

So, what’s hot and what’s not? Continue reading

Bright, Beautiful Star

Your energy and vitality

Turn them up, bring them out

Light your fire and burn crazy bright

Let your flames singe you and dare you and lift you

To do more, more, MORE!

More than you ever imagined or dreamed or hoped for

Glowing with your truth and flowing with your intuition

With your spirit wild and free

And your mind light and open.

Come, come, come into this magical place

Your love and passion and mercy and grace

Are waiting to fill you up, fill you all the way to overflowing

Stretching, leaping, blooming and growing.

Let yourself go; let yourself feel

The power in you that is real

Take your place in the cosmos and rise

You bright, beautiful star with luminous eyes.

The Art of Self-Love

There are times you struggle to connect to yourself and find the bright, insightful you brimming with encouragement and sheer joy at being alive. Sometimes you feel sad and weepy and you don’t even know why.

When those times come, remember this: you are responsible for your well-being. You are responsible for loving and appreciating yourself.

What does it really mean to do those, anyway?

It means to embrace all of you who are; to take things as you see them and love them anyway because who else is going to do it for you, right?

It’s a conscious decision to observe as fairly as you can and ask yourself how you would act if someone else were you: would you still disparage them as much or as often as you do yourself? Continue reading

Reverb11 – Day 4 – Beauty :)

via this post

Here we are at the fourth day and I’m almost caught up! Phew, cranking these out one after the other does take its toll. Right then, let’s tackle that day’s task for Reverb11.

4. Beauty
How have your standards of beauty shifted in the past year?

For quite some time now, I’ve thought that the fairest beauty lies within us. Sure there are gorgeous people everywhere, but their personalities aren’t always as nice and that just decreases their attractiveness as far as I’m concerned. So I can’t really say my standards of beauty have shifted, but I can say they’ve been reinforced through personal experience.

Some of the most fabulous women in my circle aren’t just conventionally luscious, their auras gleam with inner beauty and draw everyone in with the brightness of their glow. I’m totally in love with each and every one of them because they’re living proof that beautiful souls always shine.

Beauty means colour, warmth, laughter, companionship, love; it’s not about how we look but how we behave as we live and dance on this wonderful planet called Earth. :)

My Take on Life

I think life is what you make of it. Yes, that’s quite the cliché, but bear with me whilst I indulge my youthful perspective. Hey it’s my prerogative, right? Yes indeed. So, here it is.

There’re hardships to bear, difficulties to overcome, challenges to stretch us and make us better at what we do. At the same time, though, life can be exquisite, beautiful, joyful, and full of countless possibilities and limitless pleasures.

I honestly think people get so caught up in negativity and trying to get ahead that they lose sight of the beauty of being alive and loved. So many times people’re willing to give only if they can get something in return, there doesn’t seem to be much genuine goodwill left. I think it’s important to be considerate, to care even if there’s no immediate reward or benefit, to reach out to your friends and just be there for them. I think everyone should hold on to their inner child and retain the innocence of that stage because it keeps one positive and young at heart.

I think the pace of life is too frenetic these days; all that bustling back and forth, hurrying to and fro, what’s it really about? You can only find harmony and balance if you slow your roll and take the time to be at peace within yourself. Find the time to sit back and reflect, to focus on being in tune with your spirit and in harmony with your soul.

LOL, deep or what? 😀 Motivational speaker in the making! Seriously though, life may not be a bed of roses, but it’s not a thicket of thorns either. So, resist the tendency to point out/dwell on all the things that could go wrong or bad; recognise and embrace the flip side instead.
