How Would It Feel to . . . Stretch?

Beyond all boundaries. Right up to the edge and over.

Beyond the self-sabotage and deprecation. “Oh, I can’t! I’m just not good enough”? Gone. Vanquished. Wiped out.

Beyond the critics and naysayers. The founts of doubt and pessimism. Block them out. Tune into your kick-ass frequency and take the world by storm, dammit!

Beyond the trepidation. The fear. The “What if I fall?” and “It would SUCK to fail.” Brace up. Believe. Your future’s calling and urging you to unfurl those wings. Pack light.

Beyond the pain. The depression. The heartbreak. The past. It happened to you. Why let it define you as well?

Beyond the dilly-dallying and second guessing. Do it or screw it. Either way, DO something.

Beyond questioning your ability, right, or sheer balls to do so. The short answer is yes. The long answer is you have a gift to share with us all.

Beyond the disappointments and setbacks. Caving in weakens the spirit. Pushing forward strengthens it. Get yourself a cheer-leading posse to point out the rainbows when you can’t see the sky for your tears.

Beyond burnout and exhaustion. Running dry is part of the human condition; ignore the signs at your own peril. Build a self-care practice to meet your needs and refresh your spirit.

Beyond narrow mindsets and blinkered vision. Life is organic. Let your spirit soar wild and free. Fact: Innovation does not favour closed minds.

Beyond hushing your truth and hiding your enthusiasms. Boldness leaves an indelible mark on history. Every time.

Beyond believing it’s all right for others to shine but there ain’t enough space for them and you. Hogwash. We are all bright stars. The cosmos form our playground. Light is our heritage. Word.

How would it feel to stretch beyond every challenge and reach the rare jewel on the other side?

I’ll tell you how it would feel. Fan-freakin’-tastic. :-)

Thank you for reading; it means a lot to have you here. Please feel free to share this post with your networks. Come say hi on Facebook or find me on Twitter! I’m always looking to connect. Ciao, lovelies.

The Urge to Connect

We are driven to share, to connect, to communicate our thoughts and emotions to our fellow humans. We want to be able to say to ourselves, “My voice was heard. My vote was counted. My life mattered.”

We are driven to seek out the acknowledgment of others, to leave our mark on the world and have our experiences count for something. We keep journals and diaries, write letters and books to capture the richness of our expression and the quality of our imagination. Even those who choose solitude record their experiences for posterity, for whoever might come across their ideas and findings, for the purpose of making an impact even after they’re gone.

The ability to connect defines us, molds us, validates our standing as members of society. We invariably seek an audience to assure us of our worth, our appeal, and our desirablility. It is the ability to communicate our deepest thoughts and desires through words and gestures that drives us to do so over and over again, to form lasting bonds with our inner circle and even, to some extent, the world at large.

When we connect, we share. When we share, we create. We bring into being new ways of thinking and living. Our interactions spark ideas: some mundane, some profound, all of them necessary to nourish the creative process so we can reap its fruits and benefits.

The urge to connect is ultimately the urge to create something bigger than ourselves, something that changes the fabric of our world and leaves the stamp of our imagination on it. We want to be able to marvel, “I did that. I did that. I took my idea and ran with it. I took a chance and I wasn’t afraid.” We want to be remembered because we mattered, because we influenced, because we changed something.

Even when you share with no one but yourself, you open up a connection with your spirit that creates something worth sharing with someone else.

So loosen up. Listen to the voice of your intuition. Step off the cliff of “What if I can’t?” because you do have the wings to show you that “Yes, you can.” You can. :)

The Illumination of Imagination

Imagination. A driving force behind every visionary. A light to dispel the darkness of restriction and stagnation. Imagination is the ability to take the sights and sounds and colours of our dreams, and express them through art. Melodies, movies, poetry, literature, sculptures, mosaics … they bloom when we dream but fade away as we wake. The illumination of imagination guides us to those lost treasures, makes it possible to capture and recreate the richness of expression, and helps us explore the worlds we carry within us.

We are all artists. Each of us creates something beautiful through one medium or the other. When I was a child, I  thought artists were only those who painted on easels. I didn’t understand how anyone else could claim that title, but then I didn’t understand the true nature of art. It is all around us, present from dawn till dusk, in everything we do. Now I realise that there are artists of the spoken word, of written rhetoric, of visual brilliance and auditory pleasure.

You can be an artist through dance and sport and intellectual avenues. It is simply the level of intensity that separates the professionals from the amateurs. You may not be able to earn a living with your particular art form, but you do have one. The question is, are you aware of yours?

Art is my craft. My expression is art. Love is my passion. How do I know? I am an artist of the mind. I express myself through my journal, poetry, my blog, and my drawing. I believe in intellectual bliss, in the power of the written word, in the beauty of love as an emotion and a lifestyle. I read, I write, and I observe. I am inspired by life: the triumphs and defeats, the flow of time and creation of history, the constant search for something higher and purer.

So when I speak of the illumination of imagination, I think of the bright fire burning in my soul and exciting my spirit to reach until I touch the stars. The same fire burns in every child but snuffs out when the joy of discovery fades after childhood. Fuel that bright blaze. There is so much to be enjoyed that way: vibrancy and diversity of sounds and colours in dreams, a richer life as an individual, and a greater range of expression and emotions. Try the illumination of imagination. I promise you it rocks. 😉 Shalom.

The Banner of Social Awareness

It can be flown anytime, anywhere, by anyone. It is a way of life: a belief system that transcends age, gender, and political or religious affiliation. The ability to operate on a higher plane of awareness, to envision progress on a grand scale, to make your dreams reality and effect widespread change: that is flying the banner.

You don’t have to be a genius for people to listen. You don’t have to be drop-dead gorgeous, filthy rich, or terribly prestigious to get others interested in your cause. You just need the core of a great idea. When you allow yourself the illumination of imagination, you tread the path of transformation.

What you see and what could be are often two sides of the same coin, and they are separated only by your ability to recognise that. So when you find yourself wondering if things can’t be different, you are simply following the lead of your subconscious, which by the way is more in tune with the world around you than your conscious self. The subconscious is not bound by any laws or restrictions; it simply exists. As such, its potential is limitless and its scope of vision is much wider than one would allow the conscious mind.

Questioning the status quo is often the psyche prodding one to reach higher and do better, to go beyond the constraints placed on us by others and achieve what we see in the mind’s eye. It is the subliminal urge to step outside a comfort zone and stretch for excellence, to challenge oneself on a constant basis, to aim for a lasting legacy of enlightenment and positive change.

Deep down in each and every one of us, we know when a situation can be better. We know when something can be improved or renewed, when change is inevitable, and when it is necessary to act or risk being stifled. We know when we must cast off apathy and achieve the “impossible”. It is left to us to be courageous enough to take that first step.

In order to fly the banner, you must act. In order to act, you must believe. In order to believe, you must think. Think. Task your mind. Mine the treasures waiting within you. Know that having a vision seemingly ahead of your time or generation is an awesome thing, a sure sign that you are aware of the power of an open mind. When your mind is broad, limber, and receptive to new ideas, you are capable of great things.

Embrace the chance to be the best version of yourself. Live your dreams. Fly the banner with pride.
