Creative freedom is an act of courage.
The courage to dare.
The courage to dream.
The courage to share.
It’s less about validation—Will they like it? Will they like me?—and more about expression—This is who I am, this is what I believe.
Creative freedom is the courage to tell your story and trust that it’ll resonate with someone else and make a difference in her life.
You’re not just writing, speaking, or teaching because you like the sound of your own voice, but because you believe you have something important to say and now’s the time to say it.
It’s moving past distractions and getting right to the heart of the matter so your words are clear, potent, and vivid.
This sharpness sets you up for success because we’re drawn to well-told stories with purpose. We feel cheated when a piece of content promises something and doesn’t deliver because it breaks the promise it made to get our attention in the first place. Clickbait, anyone?
Creative freedom isn’t a free-for-all without meaning, but an exploration of what we have to say and why we have to say it. We move past yelling and cavorting for likes, clicks, and shares, and dive into the deep work of telling stories that matter to us and other people.
We trust that what we have to say is important enough to draw the right eyeballs, minds, and hearts to it when we do share it, but we’re not obsessing over how many do come or will come because we’re focused on the impact built into our ideas and content.
Creative freedom is an act of responsibility, a pledge to be mindful of what we produce and why we produce it. We choose to do no harm, do as much good as possible, and be great stewards of the attention we’re asking for.
Rocking creative freedom is creating something beautiful and useful that grabs attention and makes an impact.
It’s slicing through the fog of inertia and spurring others to get up, gird their loins, and explore their own creativity.
It’s living out your truth and inspiring others to do the same.
It’s dreaming out loud and nudging others to let their dreams out to dance and breathe.
Rocking creative freedom is daring to be your fullest self and giving all you’ve got to give.
Dare to be free.
