When the Lord calls us to repent, He calls us to return to Him.
He invites us back into a love relationship based on obedience and framed by grace, because it’s only because of His mercy that we are not consumed (Lamentations 3:22).
The Lord calls us to repentance so that He can bless, heal, and restore us. His very nature is to redeem and bless, not to punish and curse.
In Isaiah 1, even as the Lord condemns Israel’s sins, He urges them to repent so He can restore them. Verse 18 says, “Come now and let us reason together,” says the LORD, “though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (NKJV).
And in Isaiah 1:25-27, He promises to purge their dross, restore their judges and counsellors as before, and return Jerusalem to being “the city of righteousness, the faithful city” (Isaiah 1:27 NKJV).
The Lord calls us to repentance so we can bask in His love and not be separated from Him by our sin, pride, or rebellion. We have this promise in 1 John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (NKJV).
The beauty of repentance is the beauty of restoration to close fellowship with a holy God who loves us too much to leave us in captivity without redeeming and forgiving us (Jeremiah 29:11-14; Ezekiel 36:16-31).
Thank you Otiti, indeed, the indescribable love of God.🙌🏾
You’re welcome, Auntie Aidevo! Thank you for reading! His love is amazing.
Thank you Otiti, I was reading Psalms 32 and got to the part where David joyously declared…
Psalms 32:5 NLT
Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.
May God Almighty Jehovah give us the grace to repent, and may He increase your anointing. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen 🙏
