Every new season demands that you audit your life because you need a new version of you where you’re going.
As humans, we’re creatures of habit. Habits are great, but the wrong ones trap us in ruts and deadends that lead nowhere. When it’s time for something new, all those chains and shackles have to go, and that’s where an audit comes in.
So, what does it mean to audit your life? It’s a process that the Lord takes you through, and it’s only when you allow Him to AUDIT your life that things really start coming alive again.
AUDIT
Assess: Is this relationship, environment, or venture pleasing to Him? Is it aligned with His perfect will? What are you still holding on to that’s already expired?
Untangle: Being brave enough to release what’s no longer needed or aligned is challenging, but there’s no other way to grow and enter into your Promised Land. Some things need to die in the wilderness so you have room for more when your promise comes.
Design: Making room for the new takes prayer and structure. Clear the decks. Clear out old mindsets, speech patterns, and default behaviours that keep you playing small. Upgrade your confession and speak life, not death. Declare Scriptures over yourself and your new season. Live life by design, not by default.
Invest: Embrace the new. New jobs, new habits, new opportunities and friendships and dreams. Be willing to experience something different from what you’re used to, because the incredible is often hidden in the unusual things, places, and people that stretch you. This too has purpose.
Trust: Trust that the Lord knows what He’s doing (Isaiah 55:8-9). Trust Him to keep you, take care of you, and protect you (Psalm 121). Trust that He loves you and has good plans for you (Isaiah 54:10 NIV; Jeremiah 29:11). And trust that He’s leading you into a brighter day, even when everything looks bleak and you feel hopelessly lost in the dark.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths”.
Trust doesn’t always make sense. It’s not supposed to. You trust with your heart, not with your intellect. And if you’re being nudged into something bigger and deeper than you’ve ever dreamed, how you’ve always thought and lived isn’t enough to get you where you’re going.
Did you catch that?
If you’re being nudged into something bigger and deeper than you’ve ever dreamed, how you’ve always thought and lived isn’t enough to get you where you’re going.
And that’s why you need to grow into a different version of yourself. That’s why you need new habits that prepare you to sustain the promise, because what’s the point of getting something you’ve always wanted if you can’t keep it, right? And you won’t be able to make the new habits stick if you don’t clear out the old stuff first.
When you think about it, the Israelites failed to enter the Promised Land because they couldn’t clear out the old habits of thinking and speaking. They kept complaining instead of praising or even just asking for what they needed.
They couldn’t learn to be joyful, trusting people even though they saw God move on their behalf, because they never learned to think of themselves as anything but helpless slaves. Being bound in their minds kept them from seizing victory in their lives.
If I want a new version of me to blossom so my promise can flourish, then I need to learn a new way to think, speak, act, and live. I need to AUDIT my life, otherwise I’ll keep experiencing the same things over and over again because I haven’t changed how I see or respond to challenges.
When you’re on the verge of transition, it’s tempting to hold on to what you know because it’s comforting and familiar, but it’s a trap. Receiving something new demands giving up something old. If you refuse to evolve, how can you receive the fullness of all that God has for you?
So today, I pray that you’re bold enough to trust in the Lord even when it makes no sense.
I pray that you’re brave enough to AUDIT your life and break free from everything old that’s blocking your new season.
And I pray that your promises become your reality because you’ve grown into the person you need to be to receive and sustain them.
May your new season come forth speedily, in Jesus’s Name. Amen.
This really touch me a lot, I believe I will achieve my great dreams and be patient on to thy Lord time
